OMC News and Updates

OMC members have been hearing about the interactive features of our new website. The following instructions will help with integrating the OMC calendar with their own personal calendar on their computer and smartphone. Step one in this process is to set up your own gmail account on google. Once you set up your own gmail account on google, then you have access to all the applets that google has created for free. Under your gmail account sign in, you will need to choose "calendar" (go to www.google.com and pick calendar under the list of options at the top of the page). On the calendar page, look on the left side of the screen and see the box where it says "Other calendars" and "settings" and "add" on the bottom. Click on "add" and choose "Add a friend's calendar." Put in the email address for OMC which is ozarksmultisportclub@gmail.com. You will have to wait at that point. One of us will periodically check that email box, and if you have contacted it (for any reason actually) you should get a response. Once you have been given permission to add the OMC calendar, it will automatically appear with your google calendar in a box that reads "Other Calendars" on your google calendar home page. Make sure that under "My Calendars" -> settings you have checked the boxes that read ozarksmultisportclub@gmail.com and Upcoming Races for the events on our OMC site to be on your google calendar.

Finally, there are two versions of Google Synch to consider. One is for your desktop/laptop computer to synchronize with Outlook, for example. The other is to sychronize with your smartphone. The desktop sync software install is pretty self-explanatory with the link for the software to be found at the upper right hand corner of your calendar home page screen. The install for the smartphone can be found at m.google.com/go Once you have mobile synch installed, you have to go under options and make sure you have checked off the ozarksmultisportclub@gmail.com and Upcoming Races calendars, so that when you synchronize it will include these events in your personal mobile phone calendar.

I hope this additional information is helpful and accurate. This has and continues to be a learning curve for me. If I've made an error, please let me know. For my co-administrators who have access to the settings for the club calendar, and who will participate in the task of permissioning members to access the calendar through their own gmail account, it is important to add these members to both the club calendar and the races sub-calendar.
