On November 7th, Missouri will host its first 100 mile trail running race, the Ozark Trail 100 Mile Endurance Race . The race, to take place around Steelville, MO, will be on the Ozark Trail which includes over 300 miles of trails total in mostly linked sections (http://www.ozarktrail.com/index.php). So far, approximately 125 competitors from all over the country have already signed up for the event which will challenge racers with plenty of climbs and a few opportunities to get their feet wet. There is approximately 15,000 feet of elevation gain and racers must negotiate their way through trail that is mostly single track. The race is put on by St. Louis Ultrarunners Group (http://www.stlouisultrarunnersgroup.net/index.html). Springfield will be represented by Team Dynamic Earth which is sending 2 runners, Ben Creehan and Jason Coleman, along with Jamie Wynn and Scott Stricklin, who have have also signed up. The finish line is at Bass' River Resort, and a shuttle is available to take racers to the starting line. OMC sends a big hoooahhh!!! to our locals attending the event. They certainly live up to the motto of "Go The Distance."
